About Us
Forró Montreal's mission is to promote and spread the rich culture of forró, celebrating not only its music and dance but also the traditions that accompany this cultural expression, such as typical cuisine and traditional festivities. Our commitment is to create an inclusive space where respect, joy, integration, and community are always at the forefront, providing an accessible and authentic experience for everyone.
Our Values
Respect Above All
Respect is the foundation of everything we do. We value mutual respect among participants, artists, and organizers, creating a welcoming and safe environment for all. Forró Montreal is a space where everyone, regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs, is treated with dignity and respect.
Spreading and Promoting Forró Culture
At Forró Montreal, we strive to enrich the experience of forró, bringing its traditional elements to the local audience and fostering an environment of learning and celebration. Beyond dance and music, we highlight typical cuisine, featuring dishes that reflect the flavor of Northeastern culture, as well as traditional festivities that are a fundamental part of our cultural celebration. Each event is an opportunity to explore and showcase the full essence of forró.
Community
Forró Montreal is more than just events—it is a community of people passionate about forró culture. We constantly work to strengthen the bonds among participants, encouraging the formation of a support network where everyone can share experiences, learn from one another, and support each other. Together, we form a large family that celebrates forró in its purest and most genuine form.
Integration and Accessibility
We believe in the power of integration that music and dance provide. At Forró Montreal, there is no room for division; our goal is to bring together people from different backgrounds, stories, and perspectives in a harmonious and shared space. Through dance and music, we promote cultural exchange, friendship, and mutual understanding.
We strive to ensure our events are inclusive, considering the diverse needs of our audience. From venue selection to providing resources, we aim to create accessible environments so everyone can enjoy the experience, regardless of physical or financial limitations.
Joy
Forró is a celebration of life, joy, and togetherness. We aim to share the vibrant energy of this culture with all participants. Every party, every event, is an opportunity to smile, dance, and have fun, creating unforgettable moments and sharing the happiness that forró brings us.
